What if the journals, poems, and notes you’ve tucked away weren’t finished yet — but waiting to surprise you? What if you've been holding on to beauty all this time but simply could not see it? What if revisiting and reclaiming your pages were the key to moving forward with greater insight and freedom?
Excavating & Harvesting is an online weekend retreat where you’ll rediscover your own words with ease, curiosity, and joy (yes -- we will discuss this). Together, we’ll revisit old pages not to analyze or fix, but to play, reimagine, and listen for the stories that still want to be told.
Through guided prompts, creative exercises, and shared reflection, you’ll:

Through guided prompts, creative exercises, and shared reflection, you’ll:
- Find jewels in the forgotten corners of your journals and poems
- Notice surprising patterns and sparks of inspiration
- Experiment with reshaping your words in new ways (retelling the story)
- Leave with fresh writing and renewed connection to yourself
Major points I will show you:
- How to take the fond memories and bring that energy into your presence
- What your patterns are telling you and how you're recreating the old ones that do not serve you
- While honoring your stories and beliefs, how the stories you tell ourselves are not always true
- The importance and gift it is to hold yourself with more compassion, understanding, and grace
My Story
|
Not too long ago I was led to revisit my journal entries that span decades. I've read some entries before but to my surprise, reading them in the midst of such uncertainty and heightened energy in the world has given me a clearer perspective of who I am and what I've already overcome.
Yes, there are parts that are hard to read. Parts that can trigger some unhealed parts. But what I've learned through the process is how to hold myself so much better and with tender regard. I've also discovered how to recreate memories in ways that I choose now that I have agency over my life and what I allow and what I can discard. |
What about you? Are you curious about what's on the page? What can become of what's been written? Maybe it's a poem, or new insight, or forgiveness, or a release? What if through your writing over the years you found your way and revisiting those writings -- whether poems or journal entries -- you are reassured that you are indeed on the correct path?
This isn't about judgement but self-compassion, liberation, and beginning again.
Join me in discussion, reading (you won't be asked to share your previous writings), re-crafting the narrative, and self-discovery for one weekend.

FAQ:
1. How many journals do I need to have?
There is no set number!
2. What if I don't have journals but I do have old poems?
Great! What I'm offering goes for journals and poems.
3. How far back do my journals need to go?
They can go back as far as 40 years or more :-). You want to have journals that you've had some distance with. If you've had a traumatic experience last year, I might suggest you skip that year. This isn't about re-triggering issues, but allowing yourself to see something new and beautiful. Space often helps with that.
4. What about for my poems?
Again, though for a slightly different reason, I think a year. You want to have some distance from what you've written so you can re-imagine what can be done.
5. What if I don't want others to know what's in my journals?
You don't need to worry! You won't be asked to share with us anything from your journal or your old poems.
4. What if there are parts of my early writings I do not want to visit?
You must certainly don't hae to! If I ask you to turn to a certain date or year and you know that's when soemthing happened that you don't want or are ready to return to, you won't have to. You have complete control.
5. What kind of tips are you going to give?
I want this to be a gentle retreat but I know our words -- particularly those we've written in our journals-- can hit hard. I'm going to provide a container, as best as possible, for you to feel supported in this journey of rediscover, reclamation, and re-imagination.
6. Why is this a weekend and not one day?
This isn't something I want us to rush through. Because I want you to feel supported, I want us to have space and time together for you to walk through your journals or old poems. We need time for our pages to breathe and for us to be a witness to that.
7. Will these sessions be recorded?
Because we will be spending a good portion of our time together reading our own journals (silently) and writing to prompts, this retreat will not be recorded. However, if you sign up and miss a day, I will send you a recording of me giving the prompts so you can do it on your own time.
8. What if I need to miss a day?
Though I think giving yourself uninterrupted time to fully participate is best, no worries if you can't make it. I will email you what you missed.
